Tonight I joined a group of people–we didn’t mix much on the dark and delayed boat ride over to the island. We had to cut through ice–a strenuous, loud, grinding, backing up and going at it again kind of process. Ice breakers. But not for us. And then we walked in the fog along a path past the haunted lighthouse to Artscape. And attended “Common Fate,” an exceptional performance of dancers and performance artists conceived and directed by Zeesy Powers.
On the ride back to the mainland, still grinding through ice at Hanlan’s Point, you could feel that magic had happened. We were close, intense, joined. Our conversations crossed invisible lines. We changed each other’s lives.
