There are stories we know, and stories we don’t know. Both of these are told around us.

But the ones we are allowed to snap in public, without permission, sometimes with a coin dropped in a cup or a hat, these are the ones that are–or seem to be–most ordinary.

Other stories are for journalists to find, with permits and papers and documents.

And yet we keep trying, searching for what nourishes, for hidden but essential knowledge.
